Assalamu 'alaikum Habib Muhammad, I ask permission to ask. I beg an explanation of the views of Ahlus Sunnah wal Jama'ah to Shaykh Bin Baz's fatwa on Building grave below. Explanation on Habib before I say thank you.
Question:
I have noticed in our area some graves filled with concrete the size of a length of 1 m and width 1/2 m, and deceased wrote to her name, date of death, and some phrases like: "Ya Allah grant mercy to so and so son of So and so ...", so. What this kind of legal action?
Ash-Shaykh Abdul 'Aziz bin Abdullah bin Baz replied:
Should not be built on the grave, either by casting or the other, as well as writing it. Because there is an authentic history of the Prophet sallallaahu 'alaihi wa sallam about the prohibition to build on the graves and writing.
Al-Imam Muslim has narrated from the hadeeth of Jabir radi 'anhu, he said:
نهى رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم أن يجصص القبر وأن يقعد عليه وأن يبنى عليه
"The Prophet sallallaahu 'alaihi wa sallam forbade whitewashed tombs, occupied, and built." ...
Al-Imam At-Tirmidhi and others narrated with a saheeh sanad with additional lafadz:
وأن يكتب عليه
"And writeable."
